Kiss Across Swords by Teal Ceagh

Kiss Across Swords is the second book in the Time Crossed Loves series by Teal Ceagh. As in the first book Kiss Across Time, we get to come along the journey through history with Brody, Taylor, and Veris. The passionate love for each other has grown to a scorching level in this book. While Kiss Across Time gave a wonderful insight into the pasts of Brody and Veris, Kiss Across Swords goes even deeper into the emotional struggles behind the two lovers. We get an in depth view of how they met and became lovers. Even more emotionally involved than the first book in the series, readers will experience racing hearts and fluttering stomaches as you turn the pages of this thrilling exploration of battle, self loathing, trust, and a soul shaking love that time cannot erase.

Taylor’s special birthday didn’t turn out how she’d hoped. After years of living a wonderful life sharing in a love with Brody and Veris, sharing their histories and their bed, she was ready to take the next step. She asks Veris to turn her. She wants to live forever as a vampire alongside them both. Veris doesn’t take to the request how she expected him to. He turns his back and walks out on Brody and Taylor. Afraid she’s lost him forever she takes comfort in Brody’s arms.
Taylor and Brody are taken back to the time of the first crusades. Being used to these trips back in time Taylor and Brody simply wait for Veris to appear as he normally does and enjoy the trip together. However something isn’t quite right this time. Veris has no idea who they are and he is less than happy about the attempted seduction by Taylor, something that is just not done in that time period.
Something has gone terribly wrong. Somehow they have changed history on one of their previous trips back in time. Now they must figure out what went wrong and how to fix history or they just might go back to a future that doesn’t exist any longer, losing more than just Veris. Taylor and Brody must find a way to bring Veris back to them using ways that are acceptable in the time period they are stuck in. Veris is non to thrilled with their presumed lies about the future and attempts to lure him into their plans. Knowing that they only have 4 days to fix their relationship they risk changing even more history in order to guarantee their future together.

Kiss Across Time by Teal Ceagh

Kiss Across Time
Teal Ceagh’s Kiss Across Time is a fascinating and deliciously sexy story of a love that has spanned many lifetimes. The relationship between Brody Gallagher and Veris is masculine, yet full of endearing emotions. Once Taylor Yates is brought into the relationship it goes from a sexy story to one that burns your fingers with every turn of the page! The chemistry these three characters is apparent from the very beginning. The way Ceagh incorporates time travel into the story does not take away from the realness of the story in any way and in fact added to my eagerness while I was reading. You never know where, or should I say “when”, Taylor will end up with Brody or Veris. When you’re reading about 2000 year old vampires, it’s a special treat to get to see and live their history instead of hearing them retell it. You can feel the emotions come off the page when Brody and Veris share their histories with Taylor.
Kiss Across Time is a terrific start to the Time Crossed Love series. Readers won’t be able to help but fall in love with the characters. Taylor Yates is one lucky woman and Kiss Across Time is a must read for any fan of the paranormal/erotica genre!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Taylor Yates has just been fired from her teaching position at the university for her stance that the 5th century poet Inigo Domhnall did actually exist.  After hearing the words from an Inigo Domhnall poem in the lyrics of a death metal song, she is even surer of her beliefs and she plans to prove it by setting up a private meeting with the band’s lead singer Brody Gallagher. The first meeting is not what she expects at all. Brody kisses her during his stage performance and they are both transported back in time to the days when Brody was a warrior, in King Arthur’s Britain. What a kiss!  After sharing an equally explosive kiss with Brody’s friend and lover, the sexy Saxon Warrior Veris, Taylor figures out there is much more to these gorgeous guys than meets the eye. They are vampires and have been together for centuries.
Readers will enjoy the passion between the characters and the attention to detail that the author gives during the time travel sequences makes it easy to step into the story. Kiss Across Time leaves you signing in contentment and eager to learn more from Brody, Taylor, and Veris.
Raphael: Vampires in America book 1
Raphael
Raphael: Vampires in America is a fabulous book filled with action, suspense, sexual tension, a kick-ass heroine with a fondness for sarcasm, and a sexy, dark and dangerous vampire lord who always gets what he wants.  This book is definitely not in the Vampire Romance category. I would put this book in the Urban Fantasy genre along with books like Night Huntress, Anita Blake, and Riley Jensen. I love a book that has a woman who can stand her ground with the big boys and an alpha male who can’t believe he’s fallen for that woman! Cyn and Raphael’s relationship is not the perfect “Happily Ever After” and I loved that. Reynolds has added a great secondary cast of characters that are as much a part of the story as Raphael and Cyn. I can’t wait to read the second book in the series Jabril to find out what happens next with Cyn and Raphael!
Anyone who is a fan of vampire romance or urban fantasy should have this book on their book shelf!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Raphael is one of eight Vampire Lords in the US. He runs his territory fairly, but expects nothing but complete and unfailing loyalty from all he sires, works under him, or resides in his territory. For hundreds of years he’s lived a life of luxury in Malibu. Being one of the most powerful vampires in the country, and in the world, has given him a since of security and entitlement.  While vampires are known to exist, the human society still prefers to pretend they don’t and that’s fine with the vampires who see humans as nothing more than a convenient source of food and sex.  When Alexandra, the one vampire Raphael has sworn to protect, is kidnapped while he’s out of town, by one of the vampires under his rule as well as a group of humans, he must enlist the help of a human private investigator to help track her down.
Cynthia “Cyn” Leighton is an ex-LAPD officer, turned PI. Most of her work consists of digging up lost bank accounts, long lost relatives, and cheating spouses for the wealthy inhabitants in the Malibu area. Cyn has also become a popular choice among the vampire community when they are in need of a PI. Generally it’s to find a great-great grandchild or something similar. That is until Raphael walks into her office with an arrogant air of authority that shows he is not one used to being told “No”. While kidnapping is out of her league, she knows that the police will be of no help to him. She reluctantly agrees to help track down Alexandra and those that have betrayed Raphael.
Cyn and Raphael must fight through layers of betrayal from trusted colleagues and friends, both vampire and human. Their search to get to the bottom of the kidnapping faces them off against Russian Mobsters, vengeful vampires and the humans they control. Along the way the most dangerous betrayal they face just may be themselves and the emotions that are surfacing between them.

"This. A Vampire Cure For Forever" by Shaun Roundy

This.: a vampire cure for forever
Do you ever look back and recognize a certain point in time, a certain flash of remembrance and realize it was a turning point in your life? Then do you start to wonder how that certain point is going to affect your future, your forever? What would you do with forever if you actually had it? Would you want to keep forever or give it back?

In Shaun Roudy’s “This”, you get to experience the thrill of youth and the prospect of immortality and “forever”. “This” is a fairly short book, but Roudy’s depth of character development and fast paced action makes it a book you can’t put down. I’ll admit I was a little leery when I started “This” because I knew it was a YA book. While there is nothing steamy in the story, it did not disappoint like many YA books do. This is a fabulous book that will open your eyes to the things you might be overlooking in your own existence and make you realize your “forever” starts with what you enjoy today.

‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘‘

Kayla Porter was your average 17 year old. A few good friends and a loving family help round out her average life. She’s not complaining, really, she knows she has it better than a lot of people. She just can’t help but know, deep down inside, she’s meant for something bigger. Something more than a job, marriage, kids, life, death. Unfortunately the most excitement she gets in her life are terrible nightmares and a crush on a boy at school who doesn’t even know she exists Both the nightmares and her thoughts of Ethan Clayton keep her up at night and leave her exhausted the next day.

Who knew that those restless nights would change her life forever? When Kayla is sent to detention for falling asleep in class she meets the energetic and unique Melissa along with the hot headed, obnoxious Mitch. Kayla enjoys listening to the banter between Melissa and Mitch. (Mitch wants Melissa; Melissa wants to smack Mitch in the head.) Melissa is everything that Kayla isn’t; she’s bold, self assured, and speaks her mind with no worries of what anyone else thinks. Kayla likes her immediately and soon learns that not only is Melissa a breath of fresh air, she’s also Ethan’s sister. Kayla, Melissa, and Ethan strike up a close friendship and soon are spending a lot of time together. Kayla still wants more than just friendship from Ethan, but can’t quite pick up on whether he’s interested in more too. Ethan is just one of those people who are nice to everyone; one of the things Kayla loves the most about him.

A fun trip to the carnival changes everyone’s lives forever.  Kayla and Ethan finally figure out their feelings run deeper than friendship. Melissa is tempted with forever until Mitch comes along and picks a fight with the carnival worker and gets his butt kicked in the fighting ring. Mitch is bitten by the carnie and they all go home, Mitch battered and bruised, Melissa, Ethan, and Kayla happy.

When Mitch shows up at school with no injuries and a new outlook on life, the 3 friends don’t know what to think of this suddenly new Mitch. After a series of events including a selfish act of vengeance, a fatal accident, and a nightmare come true, Kayla, Melissa, and Ethan find out just how different their lives have become, having to face the realities of immortality. Even with immortality, everyone is different. Everyone handles their new status differently and not everyone can handle the thought of living forever. Some can’t handle the power they have been given. Kayla comes to find out that she may be the key to giving many a second chance at life or a second chance at death. Will the friends decide that forever isn’t for them, or will they embrace forever together?

Seduced by the Wolf by Terry Spear

Seduced by the Wolf

I have been waiting for this book ever since the first time Leidolf was introduced and continued to show up in books as the “loner” red wolf, helping out where needed. Leidolf finally gets his own story in Seduced by the Wolf and author Terry Spear has not disappointed! This story is cram packed with suspense, romance, humor, and the beautiful settings that I’ve come to expect from any Terry Spear book I pick up. Throughout the entire book I was kept guessing as to whether the bad guys were really bad or if one of the good guys was up to no good. The secondary characters are fascinating and add an additional level to the story while never deflecting from the Leidolf/Cassie storyline. Readers will love the interaction between Leidolf, the exasperated alpha male, and Cassie, the alpha female that is the only one capable of putting him in his place. With every book in this series Terry Spear takes it to the next level. Seduced by the Wolf is yet another must read and another addition to my “keeper” shelf.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leidolf Wildhaven, a “loner” alpha red wolf, has recently taken over the pack leader position to a group of werewolves that had been abused and neglected by their previous leader. Leidolf has his hands full with leadership duties, ranch money problems, rogue werewolves that need constant babysitting, teenagers with raging hormones, and trying his hardest to keep his werewolves out of the hands of the local zoo. When a wolf biologist comes to town, Leidolf needs has to hear for himself what this lady has to say. Hoping she wasn’t in their town because she had spotted one of his pack running around in their wolf coats. What he finds is the last thing he expected: A beautiful woman with a heartfelt love for wolves. He’s determined to make her his, if only for a night.
Cassie Roux is a wolf biologist who has dedicated her life to the survival of wolves in the wild and educating the public about the true nature of the wolves. Cassie is also a survivor, a “loner” alpha wolf. Her family was killed when she was a young teen and she was forced to live in the wild with a pack of wolves. Cassie couldn’t go and live in the real world, with the humans, because she is a werewolf herself. Tragedy struck her adopted wolf family also leaving Cassie completely alone. Cassie’s only goal now is to save a female wolf and her litter of pups. Unfortunately she has a new problem, how to keep her heart from falling victim to the sexy, yet seemingly controlling, alpha werewolf and pack leader Leidolf.
Together they must protect the wolves (of the lupus and lupus garou variety) from the dangers of hunters, zoo keepers, and rogue werewolves, all the while trying find a compromise in their relationship that will satisfy his need for a mate and her need to continue to protect the wild wolves.
PaST Due by CS Winchester
PaST DUE: When the bad guy is a human and a vampire is an ally, it's no wonder things get a little complicated (Volume 1)
“A vampire, a shapeshifter, a witch, a zombie, a demon, and a psychic. Frankie thought it had the makings of a very good joke but her terror kept her from coming up with a decent punch line.”  ~PaST Due
CS Winchester brings us a fascinating suspense filled book that grabs your attention and leaves you on the edge of your seat until the final page. Frankie is such a strong character she easily holds her own among some very demanding males!  The story line has the unique twist in that the bad guy is human and the good guys working with Frankie trying to save the world are vampires and shapeshifters.  This is a must read for anyone that loves suspense, romance, and all things paranormal. I look forward to the second book in this series, Half PaST, where we’ll get to learn much more about the powerful alluring vampire Josh.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In Frankie Wright’s world, she’s not one to bat an eyelash as anything strange or supernatural. As a psychic and agent for the secretive MI5 in the PaST (Paranormal and Supernatural Taskforce) department, it’s Frankie’s job to keep the Paranormal and Supernatural away from human awareness. She’s had a lot of practice with that, since she’s been hiding her psychic ability her whole life. Frankie is unable to touch anyone without hearing everything they are thinking or feeling their “past”. When a killer begins murdering young women in a ritualistic fashion, she has to work with her ex-boyfriend Will Campbell, the lead investigator for the police, all the while keeping both her personal psychic abilities and the paranormal aspect of the case secret.   Frankie finds the connection between the victims and it just happens to be that they all frequent a club owned by Alexander McNabb, a sexy sophisticated vampire.  Frankie soon realizes that even though Alex is a vampire he’s a welcome partner with the case as well as in her bed. The fact that she doesn’t “feel” any of his emotions or “past”, gives her the chance to have the close contact she never thought possible.
Being used to working on her own, Frankie struggles to work  not only with Alex and Will, but with a second very powerful vampire Josh and his shape shifter family, as well as with the local witch coven. Even with all their help, Frankie finds herself racing against time to find the killer before he brings hell upon earth, quite literally.

My Love Eternal: The Dark Kiss Trilogy #1 by Liz Strange

My Love Eternal“Blood, sex, and eternal life…..What more could a girl ask for?” That quote from the back cover was enough to make me want to read this book!
My Love Eternal is a wonderful step outside the usual books in the vampire romance genre. While the story does contain a beautiful love story between the main characters Rachel and Giovanni, it really shows the darker side of “life” as a vampire. My Love Eternal contains more in the way of a darker paranormal romance storyline. There are some pretty graphic scenes, including one rape, but even these scenes are done tastefully and truly serve a purpose to further the plot. Forget the pretty images in the movies. The life of a vampire is violence, blood, and many times death.  The intensity of the passionate loving emotions as well as the darker emotions of anger, revenge, and fear were so strong it made it impossible to not feel a connection to the characters.  Ms. Strange does a superb job of showing the veracious dark nature of the vampire and balances it perfectly with the more human emotion of true love.
My Love Eternal is the first book in The Dark Kiss Trilogy and I look forward to the next books!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rachel is working the night shift at the hospital when a stranger shows up in her office. He’s the most beautiful man she’s ever seen and she is immediately drawn to him in a way that should frighten her, but doesn’t. After the brief encounter in her office she sees him in other places where she is. He haunts her every waking thought and her dreams as well, to the point of doubting her own sanity. Is he real? She sees things through his eyes, has memories that don’t belong to her. The dreams are so real and she finds herself waking in odd places, like she is trying to go to him even in her dreams.  As Rachel is drawn into Giovanni’s world she realizes that she is willing to give up everything, her family, her friends, her job, to be with him for eternity. Giovanni, after all, is a vampire.
Giovanni has been a vampire, alone in the world, for 300 years.  The moment he saw Rachel he knew she was the one, the one to accompany him through eternity. Never had he encountered someone who could hear his thoughts, feel his emotions, and share his memories so easily, so naturally. Giovanni never once hid the true nature of his being. He showed Rachel the dark side of his existence and was surprised to find that she still wanted to spend eternity by his side. She loved him, man and monster.
With Giovanni as her maker, lover, and guide through the complex world of being a vampire they find a comfortable existence together for many years. That is until the past catches up to them. The Desmarais family has been hunting Giovanni for centuries. Determined to carry out their vengeance for a tragedy Giovanni had no control over. Rachel and Giovanni must travel the world, uprooting their lives sometimes every couple years, sometimes no more than a week or two, just to stay one step ahead of the people who are bent on their destruction.
